The Biophysics Instrumentation Core (BIC) Facility offers sophisticated instrumentation dedicated to characterizing biomolecular conformations and interactions, as well as equipment for the isolation and purification of macromolecules for subsequent detailed biophysical analysis. The BIC Facility is committed to fostering biophysical research at Notre Dame and elsewhere.

New Real-Time qPCR System
The BIC Facility has acquired a QuantStudio 3 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction System. Real-time qPCR sensitively detects and quantifies nucleic acids. The instrument is ready for use by researchers.
New T200 SPR System
The BIC facility has purchased a Biacore T200 Surface Plasmon Resonance System thanks to an NIH S10 shared instrumentation grant. SPR sensitively measures interactions between biomolecules to determine quantities such as binding affinity, kinetics, specificity, and concentration. The new SPR is ready for use by Notre Dame researchers.
CTSI Pilot Funding for Use of Core Facilities
Provides funding (up to $10k) for the use of Indiana CTSI core facilities. The submission deadline is March 29, 2023.
